The Chiltern Health Centre can refer patients requiring an MRI scan to local and London based imaging companies for private diagnostic imaging if required. Vista Diagnostics in Waterloo and the London Imaging Centre in the Harley Street area both offer MRI scans starting from £200 per area.
What is an MRI Scan?
A Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create images of structures inside your body.
The scanner is an open ended tube surrounded by a circular magnet. You will be positioned on a couch by a Radiographer, who will ensure you are comfortable before sliding you slowly into the tube.
You will be requested to keep still throughout the duration of the scan as images can be distorted through movement. The scan is painless but it may be a little uncomfortable lying still on the couch for the length of time required. There is no ionising radiation as in x-ray or CT scans.
