Central DXA Scan

Central DXA Scan

There are two different types of DXA scanning devices:

  • Peripheral DXA devices are smaller, portable machines that are used to measure bone density on the periphery of your skeleton, such as your wrist, heel or finger. These are mainly used to get an idea about whether further tests are needed and is a service that is offered FREE of charge at the Chiltern Health Centre.
  • Central DXA devices are large machines that measure bone density in the centre of your skeleton, such as your hip and spine.

Your chiropractor or osteopath can refer you privately for a Central DXA at Spire St Anthony’s Hospital in Cheam, Sutton. Fees are in the region of £120.00 and can be confirmed upon booking.
